Rebelsauce is a photo editing app app for iOS with an incredibly minimal design and a huge range of preset filters.
Edit and add sauce to your photos
On opening the app, you're presented with a two main options, open your camera roll, or take a new photo. It's simple. There is also a shop where you can buy even more filters, and the settings menu, which is also very self explanatory. The menu is set over a series of attractive photos.
Once you've chosen or taken your photo, you can browse the filter selection - called 'Sauces' - that appears under your photo. They toggle on and off, making it very easy to see changes. Tapping the Sauces on the menu brings up the other tools. There's the normal Saturation, Brightness, Contrast, Temperature and Crop controls, but also Expiration, Fade and Grain, which are all basically different ways of aging your photos.
Tapping the forward arrow, once you've made your changes, will save your photo. You then have options option to share it on various social apps, like Twitter or Facebook, and of course Instagram. Rebelsauce is ideal for Instagram. You can get different and arguably more subtle effects in this app, that will make your shots stand out amongst all the standard Instagram photos.
Some stability problems
Rebelsauce isn't perfect - if you have opened an old photo then change your mind, hitting the back button takes you to the homescreen, so you need to scroll right through your photo albums to find where you were again. We also found the app to be a little unstable, occasionally crashing, which of course means losing your work. This will no doubt improve, as the app is still very new.
A great free tool for polishing your photos
These minor gripes don't ruin what is a very cool photo editing app. The effects you can add to your photos are excellent, and it's genuinely a beautiful app to look at.
